Saint Kosmas Aetolos, considered a saint “Equal-to-the-Apostles” in the Greek Orthodox Church, was born around 1700 AD and was martyred in the year 1779 AD. He is a popular figure in both the church and national history of Greece who is considered one of the fathers of the Neo-Greek religious movement in the 18th century, and prepared the Greeks for their struggle for independence under Ottoman rule. He was a monk and ordained priest from the Philotheou Monastery of Mt Athos.
St. Kosmas had strong desire to help other Christians throughout Greece who were suffering from many hardships from the Ottoman oppressors. The Greeks were enslaved for over 300 years after the Fall of Constantinople in 1453 which resulted in a slow decline of their spiritual lives, quality of life and often times persecution because of their faith. Reflecting on the slumbering spiritual state of his fellow Greeks, he left the monastery and began a number of preaching tours. He began in 1760 in the city of Constantinople, then traveled to Nafpaktoks, Mesolonghi and other cities, once again returning to Constantinople. After that he traveled to Thessaloniki, Veri and other parts of Macedonia, then to Aitolia and Arta. Large crowds followed him, and often he would have to preach in open fields. Kosmas urged the Greek Christians to build schools so that the young children from an early age can learn about their Orthodox faith, the Gospel and to learn the value of repentance and confession. Many miracles were said to happen around his preaching, and he was feared by many of the Turks and Jews. He was captured by the Turkish authorities and hung on August 24th, 1779.
St. Kosmas was also known for his prophecies, many of them filled with exact precision. Today, some Christians do not believe there are prophets after Christ. Especially the heretical Full Preterists who believe all prophecies in the bible were fulfilled with the 70 AD destruction of Jerusalem. However, we read in the scriptures that in the last days God would pour out his gifts of the holy spirit, and one would be the gift of prophecy.
For example in 1 Corinthians 12:28 we read : “And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, and those with gifts of healing, helping, administration, and various tongues.”
And in Acts 2:17 and Joel 2:28 we read : “In the last days, God says, I will pour out My Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams”
When we examine the prophecies of the Byzantine (and Post-Byzantine) Apocalyptic Tradition, we find that the prophecies attributed to St. Kosmas are in a class by themselves as far as prophecies go for the ones we find outside of the scriptures. Previously on this website we posted some of Saint Kosmas’s fulfilled prophecies and unfulfilled ones here. His prophecies, while many of these were oral prophecies recorded in his many speeches when he traveled Greece, they were collected and published after his death. The unique style of his prophecies are such that they are very short, some just a few words or a sentence, and often numbered from 1 to about 150 prophecies. Often there are play on words or riddles used to ‘encode’ and scramble the meaning of the text because he intentionally did not want the Turks to fully understand the riddles contained in the prophecies, because these prophecies often dealt with the the subject of the coming struggle of the Greeks against the Turks in not only the War of Independence of 1821, and Balkan wars, but in much larger coming great global war of Constantinople. Saint Kosmas also predicted many of the marvels of the 20th century, such as automobiles, airplanes, the electric grid and internet, the communications systems across the world enabling people to speak to one another. These were published before any of these things came to pass. The sign of a True Prophet of Christ. There is nothing further to be said on their authenticity by the critics!

Which brings me to another related subject today, the topic of this post. The Anonymous Prophecy of 1053 AD is one of the great prophecies dated to the Byzantine Era, and thus considered a strong proof-text to the authenticity of some of the related Byzantine Prophecies on Constantinople and the struggles of the Greek Nation and their liberation and restoration. I have analyzed the prophecy and written about it here on the website. This prophecy has been covered in a few different resources, making its first appearance to the public in the year 1912 in Greece in a local newspaper, just two years before the prophecy began to materialize in 1914 with the outbreak of WWI. Now over the years I began to doubt if the dating of the prophecy to 1053 AD, just one year after the Great Schism, was accurate, as there is some language there on the names of nations that did not even exist at that time, like Germany and Austria, that would date the prophecy much later than the year 1053 AD. The short name for “Austria” was not used into the 12th Century. The word “German” was not even used before the year 1520.
I first learned about the Anonymous Prophecy of 1053 AD in a translated book written by an archimandrite of the Simonpetra monastery of Mt. Athos, Neilos Sotiropoulos in his 1973 book titled “The Coming Sharp and Two-Edged Sword.” It becomes apparent that the Anonymous Prophecy of 1053 AD provides some missing pieces to some of the subjects covered in the Book of Revelation of St. John the Theologian. This is especially the case when we analyze them from the Historicist Perspective, but using an Eastern Orthodox approach to the method of interpretation. This is the particular view which developed with the commentaries of Greek Orthodox Authors who published their writings primarily during the Post-Byzantine Exegetical Movement (from 1453 AD to 1922 AD). There are over 20 known commentaries published from that era which manuscripts till exist today for. Many of the rare manuscripts can only be found today in a few Orthodox monasteries, but a few of them were analyzed (see for example Argyriou’s Les exégèses for great analysis of these rare texts). These authors took the primary view of a historical fulfillment of the Apocalypse, especially in identifying the two beasts of Revelation Chapter 13 a Islam and the Papacy. This does certainly run counter to the Futurist views which some Orthodox resources are teaching today, some which seem to mirror the Protestant Dispensationalist views of the coming antichrist, a mark being an ID card or vaccine, etc. However, the major difference from these modern interpretations which tend to take a more literal rendering of the text in Revelation, the authors during the Neo-Greek Exegesis Movements took a more allegorical or typological approach while using the history books within their monastery libraries as resources to decode the mysterious symbols contained within the Apocalypse. The hieromonk Sotiropoulos also was a strong Historicist interpreter of the prophecies, and his research was such that he attempted to analyze the Byzantine prophecies and apply them to interpret St. John’s Apocalypse and Daniel’s prophecies on the Little Horn. Thus, Sotiropoulos similarly took a view that the “woman” of Revelation 12 is the Orthodox Church, and the two-beasts seeking her destruction to be Islam and the Papacy. This idea of fulfilled eschatology with respect to the two beasts of Revelation is certainly not knew, and has existed in the Orthodox Church for over the past 800 years. For example, these commentaries followed a historicist method with application to the Orthodox Church and its struggles against the Mohammedean and the Latin Beasts. Some of these authors, which include canonized saints, patriarchs metropolitans and Athonite monks include:
- Saint Neophytos the Recluse of Cyprus (1207 AD)
- Zacharias Gerganos (1621 AD)
- Christoforos Angelos (1624 AD)
- Mitrofanis Kritopoulos (1627 AD)
- Saint Anastasios Gordios (1718 AD)
- Paissios Ligardis (1655 AD)
- Nektarios Terpos, Athonite monk (1740 AD)
- Patriarch Anthimos of Jerusalem (1758 AD)
- Metropolitan John Lindios of Myra (1791 AD)
- Theodoret of Ioannina, abbot of the Monastery of Esfigmenou (1800 AD)
- Kyrillos Lavriotis of Patras, Athonite monk (1817 AD)
- Nikolaos Damalas, professor of the Theological School of the University of Athens (1878 AD)
- Apostolos Makrakis (1881 AD)
- Neilos Sotiropoulos, Hieromonk at Simonpetra Monastery, Mt. Athos (1964, 1996)
So while you might notice that Neilos Sotiropoulos wrote his commentaries on the prophecies and Daniel/Revelation outside of the time period of the Neo-Greek Exegetical Movement, I consider him to be tied in as part of that group given given some of his outstanding historical analysis and application of the prophecies and times statements of Daniel and Revelation, taking some of the earlier Greek interpretations a bit further, primarily due to the benefit of history behind him. I recently had the opportunity to examine the 1996 copy of “The Coming Sharp and Two-Edged Sword” written in Greek. I first noticed that the 1996 copy had a much more detailed analysis than the 1973 copy, and so I decided to translate some of the text to see what revisions were included with his analysis of the prophecy. The book cover is shown below, following the general overall theme of the Byzantine Apocalyptic Tradition with the cessation of the coming war by an Angel and a visible Cross in the sky…

While examining the translated text from this book I find that Sotiropoulos, who mind you spent 40 years analyzing this prophecy, identifies the author of the Anonymous Prophecy of 1053 AD! Sotiropoulos makes the bold claim that it was actually St. Kosmas Aeotolos who authored the prophecy not in 1053 AD, but 1753 AD before he set out to begin his missionary work to the Greeks to prepare them for the arrival of 1821. Sotiropoulos says that he analyzed a few different manuscripts of the prophecy and said the spirit, style and language used belong to the martyr Kosmas. Copies of the prophecy were found in the towns where St. Kosmas preached, specifically North Epirus, Monastery of Saint Naum, Ohrid, Epirus and Western Macedonia. St. Kosmas, he says, wrote the prophecy in 1725 AD a few years before his martyrdom. However, the copiers who found it penned it to 1753 AD when it was found, and from there another editor created a typo perhaps reading the date as 1053 AD, either as a mistake, or perhaps intentionally.
When we examine the style and numbering of the prophecies of St. Kosmas, we can easily see how similar the short terse style is between the oral prophecies and the anonymous one. And how both sets of prophecies are numbered similarly, from either 1 to 24 or 1 to 150. So to me this makes much sense it would be the same author of both sets of prophecies. I recently started to doubt that the prophecy was actually written just after the time of the Great Schism in 1053 AD, but it appears those who copied the prophecy either accidently or intentionally attributed it to that time period.
Let’s first examine the Anonymous Prophecy of 1053 AD with its original Greek and translation to English below:

Notice that this prophecy draws on many themes which appear to parallel events written in the Book of Revelation, including:
- The promises made to the churches of Smyrna and Philadelphia in Revelation 2 and 3, the only two faithful lampstands out of the seven.
- Revelation 11’s “earthquake” in the “Great City” causing “great fear“, which Greek Historicists have identified that as Constantinople for reasons as explained in the two images below.
- Revelation 14 with the great battle and “river of blood flowing from the winepress” outside “The City” matches Kosmas’s prophecy #58 and #18 in the 1053 AD prophecy.
- Revelation 16’s Battle of Armageddon and nations and empires collapsing
- Revelation 19’s great battle with the eradication of the power of the two beasts (i.e. into the “lake of fire“).
- Revelation 19 and 20 “wedding feast of the Lamb” and “resurrection” of those “beheaded” for their “testimony” as the body of Christ or church reigns for a period of time. Note that while the prophecy does not teach full Chiliaism (like premillennialism), it does tend to provide a historicist postmillennial view which the “millenarian” Greeks and Russians and English Puritans held three centuries ago, that is a specific “Golden Age” after a disruptive period of Tribulation.
That once Great City is most certainly identified in Revelation 11, when we examine the key phrases (taking a historical approach):

The focus of the Anonymous Prophecy of 1053 AD contains a significant climax event in “The City”. St. Kosmas also took an active focus on his oral prophecies which were written down, as we can find below. You will note the similarities in the length and style and topic of the prophecy fragments in both sets of collected prophecies.
17. When you see the great fleet (“one thousand ships”) in the White Sea, then the desired event will arrive”
18. When you see the “one thousand ship” in Greek waters, then it will come”
19. When you see the thousand-ship fleet in Greek waters, then the Constantinople question will finally be resolved
21. In Aulona a great destruction will take place. Armies will arrive to liberate the land.” Aulona is currently in the country of Albania.
30. The enemies of Christ will leave, but they shall return. Afterwards you shall chase them till the ‘Red Apple Tree’.
48. They shall try to resolve their differences with the pen, but they shall fail. 99 times by means of war and one time by means of the pen.
58. In Constantinople so much blood will flow, that a three-year old calf could swim in it.
63. The Turks will leave, but they shall return and will come as far as Hexamilia. In the end, they shall be driven away to Kokkina Milia. Of the Turks, one third will be killed, another third will be baptized, and the remaining third will go to Kokkina Milia (“the red apple tree”)
69.They will seek to take you as soldiers, but they will not do so in time.
70.The Turks will learn the secret three days sooner than the Christians.
71.When you hear that the war has started from below (the south), then it will be near.
72.If the war starts from below (the south), you will suffer little. If it starts from above (the north), you will be destroyed.
74.It will come quickly. And either the ox will be in the field or the horse on the threshing floor.
78.There will be a kingdom of paper (red tape) which will have a great future in the East.
80.The cause will come from Dalmata (Serbia).
81. France will liberate many Greek lands, but the Italians will liberate even more.
82. France will liberate Greece, Epirus will be liberated by the Italians.
83. Through three narrow passages, namely, Kra, Krapsi and Mouzina many armies will advance on their way to Constantinople. It would be a good idea for women and children to take refuge in the mountains, during this time. They will be asking you to know how far away is Constantinople. Do not tell them the truth, for they could mishandle you. This army will not reach Constantinople. Halfway it will be informed that the war is over.
86. Freedom (liberation) will come from the bottom part of the region where the waters pour out.
90. Curse the Pope, because he will be the reason.
95. Supplicate that it will be day and not night, summer and not winter.
109. You must have the sign of the cross on your forehead so that they can recognize you as Christians.
110. The army will not reach Constantinople. In the middle of the way, the news will arrive that the desired event already occurred.
When we examine the language and structure of the text and play on word used in both sets of prophecies, then in all likelihood St. Kosmas intentionally hid his identity because although many of his other famous prophecies were copied down through “oral tradition” he ordered these specific events on paper without claiming authorship and feared reprisals from the Turks before he could complete his mission. It was said that St. Kosmas studied Agathangelos prophecies. And the Anonymous Prophecy of 1053 AD mysteriously quotes at the end what appears to be part of the text of a prophecy of Agathanghelos “In five and fifty years… but seven months” which would seem to prove the prophecy was penned well after 1053 AD. And as Sotiropoulos says in the commentary “I am of the opinion that this amazing prophetic text, another more worthy and capable of Saint Kosmas, could not have existed to write it.” So the it appears, St. Kosmas kept his greatest prophetic work, perhaps the number one proof-text of the Byzantine prophecies aligned to some of the apocalyptic themes of Rev chapters 11, 14, 16 and 19 and 20… anonymous!
Now I will finish here by providing Sotiropoulos’s entire analysis of the Anonymous Prophecy of 1053 AD, translated from the Greek text of the book “The Coming Sharp and Two-Edged Sword” in 1996, pp. 28-41.

PROPHETIC TRUMPET OF UNIVERSAL REPENTANCE, UNITY, RESPONSIBILITY
We will develop this topic summarily and succinctly, with simplicity and very briefly. So that many will understand it, and those who are not studious and well-versed with the scriptures, and do not like studying and reading.
The above amazing Prophecy which we publish widely, and INDIVIDUALLY, is clearer than ALL the others of the Holy Bible and the Holy Fathers. It is brief and comprehensive. With a few words and in a few verses, the author systematically prophesies, and with astonishing accuracy, all the world’s major events. The wars, political and religious, which took place, and others from the rest will happen during the TERRIBLE 20th Century, which we are going through. It begins with the victorious Greeks against the Antichrist Turks, Balkan wars with an unknown time of the last prophesied event.
Many of the Greek Christians may not believe in the Prophecies. Although they speak with clarity, with the top one that we are quoting. However, I firmly believe in them. For the first reason, that part of this Prophecy was fulfilled with surprising accuracy and became History.
Regarding this prophecy: Archimandrite Neophytos Kalofoundis, already 83 years old, who took part in seven battles during the wars of 1912-13, being decorated by King Constantine, saw this prophecy at Corytsa of Epirus in 1913, including it in his book titled “in his book “Canon Collect to the Most Saint Mother of God” edited in 1965, and wrote the following: “A Prophecy I found it in an old manuscript Corylsa’s Holy Monastery of Saint Nahum, it deals with the faultless and certain development of the world and was published in Corytsa’s newspapers in 1913 by Mr. G. Cottos, the Justice of the Peace there“. I have a pamphlet which mentions that it was also found on a membrane in a village of Kozani. This booklet also contains the text of the prophecy.
Secondly, because the situation in our area prescribes the beginning of the first of the unfulfilled prophesied events.
More data and comments are given after the text of the Prophecy.
The PURPOSE of publishing this Prophecy is to offer a ray of light that will serve to orient us as individuals, and the entire Nation, to what we are about to encounter, passing through the dark tunnel of the immediate and near future.
Let us turn in repentance to the God of our Fathers, to our Orthodox Church, so that we may be saved, as individuals, and be able to survive as a Nation, which is hated and fought everywhere and by all the nations of the earth for its Orthodox Faith in Christ.
Unbelief, illegalities and all kinds of sins, distance man from the All-Wise and Omnipresent God, the Creator and Forerunner and Sustainer and Governor of the material and spiritual worlds, with the result that people become beasts, demonic and irrational, not having a grain of logic.
Let them turn for help to the substitutes of our true Faith, to magicians, diviners, mediums and to the false Eastern Religions. They become fools, like those wretches who worshiped wood and stones as almighty gods. If only this wretched, doomed and perverted person who published a few days ago that M. Alexander was a slaughterer of the peoples would reach the little brain of his subhuman to understand that this great son of Hellenic Macedonia was an instrument of God. To spread the Theodotus Greek language, the letters and the Greek Culture, so that it finds a suitable spiritual ground, that the high teaching of the Christian Faith and Teaching becomes understood and accepted.
May it bear fruit and spread, with the result that humanity today has Orthodox Christianity, Civilization and ENTIRE Humanism.
It is an IMMEDIATE need, lords and princes, to contribute to the Spiritual elevation of the Nation. This will be achieved with the reorganization of CHURCH, the STATE and EDUCATION, in accordance with the teaching of our Maker and Creator, our Lord Jesus Christ and God.
Moreover, with the help of God, the creation of a worthy war machine, with soldiers who will have the intention to fight and suffer, as good soldiers of Jesus Christ, for Faith and Country, when the need arises.
THE CHURCH: The holy Hierarchy of the Church of Greece and the State, within the framework of its powers and capabilities, to cooperate and send Mr. Seraphim, who continues to represent the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, to a place of repentance , to weep for his many and great sins against the Church. As urged by Rev. Metropolitan of Florini, Mr. Augustinos, in the Issue of “SPITHA” Magazine, of February 1993, and to reorganize the Church, which is the supreme agent of the glory and survival of the Nation, with an outstanding Archbishop of Faith, virtuous and active, worthy being and enough
THE STATE: To abolish the anti-national, anti-Christian and anti-Christian Laws, with which they oppose and abolish the eternal Laws of God. To bring back the armed service of the Antichrist Millennials. To abolish the decriminalization of adultery and abortion. The blood of the millions over the years of murdered innocent children of Greece, roars on the earth, and demands revenge, which sooner or later will come and we will mourn.
Let the State restore the death penalty, which God imposed for murderers, drug dealers by profession, and for those guilty of the ultimate treason against the Nation. Those who want to present the so-called merciful and philanthropic, and cry out against the death penalty, let them learn that their Creator God is more Philanthropic towards criminals, than them He is All Wise and Just.
After all, let the governments stop fighting and beating the Church of Christ with anti-legislations and with Laws that come into conflict with the Laws of of God, and with the Teaching of our Orthodox Church.
Not to issue or issue identity cards without the inscription of religion for all Orthodox Christians. That the Symbols of Satan, envelope, and the no. 666, which is the name, not of the imaginary Antichrist, but of the Pseudochrist of Papism.
You who are cut for the unanimity and single-mindedness of the People. Do not dare to issue such IDs. We do not threaten but warn. Let us not do what the non-Christians and Pseudo-Christs of the West dictate and impose on us. But let’s take care to acquire faith and the “spirit of Christ“. Let us prefer not the wills of the dark powers, and the pseudo-Christ people of the West, but the will of the God-man Christ. He who is All-Wise and All-Powerful. The one who has the power to help, save and glorify our Nation, as the Holy Scripture says: “Do not trust in a prince, in the sons of men to whom there is no salvation” and not in the wills of the foolish people of the West.
EDUCATION: Those responsible for Christian Teaching, for the restoration of the polytonic, pure and ancient Greek language in the schools of our Nation and for Christian education in general, should ensure that they do not leave the Schools of Christian Greece, Non-Christian illiterates, Janissaries, Stateless, without any moral or spiritual value in their souls. Wild beasts, with absurd demands, beastly and demonic, possessed by a destructive rage.
As many texts of this Prophecy were saved, they were found in Northern Epirus, Epirus and Western Macedonia.
It was found and is in the Holy Monastery of Ohrid Naum. It was found in North Epirus by Hieromonach Archim. Neophytou Kalofuntis, who served there as a soldier in 1914 after the liberation of Ioannina.
Another copy is recorded by the late lay priest Dimitrios Panagopoulos, in his book “Saints and wise men about the future to reconcile“. The text is continuous. It is not divided into verses. It is not numbered. It is stated that “it was found in the HOLY MONASTERY OF KOZANIS”. Due to an apparently illiterate copyist and a detour, it has spelling mistakes and in some words variations, without changing the meaning. It was found written on papyrus, and at the end of the text it bears the chronology that it was written in the year 1503. While in the heading it says 1053.
Another copy, the Bishop of Kalamis of the Old Calendar, Mr. Grigorios, records in his book: “WHAT WE AND OUR CHILDREN WILL SEE”.
It is reported that it was found in the Holy Monastery of Servia in Kozani. The text has the smallest difference from the previous one in terms of words and spelling, without changing the meaning. At the end of the text it does not have the date 1503. But only in the heading 1053. This was also found written on papyrus. Another text was found in a village in the Prefecture of Kozani also written on papyrus.
In 1937 Horofilax came to the village house to collect taxes. The only and old resident of the house told him that she had paid the tax. Horofilax asked for proof. The old woman, not knowing letters, suggested to him to look in the chest to find it. Empty all the documents on the floor. He found the proof, and congratulated the woman. Where he searched, he also paid attention to the ancient writing of Prophecy. He took it, copied it and distributed it in many copies. In 1962, a journalist from Macedonia published the text of this Prophecy, in a booklet with other comments. This pamphlet was given to me by a resident of Thessaloniki in 1972.
Unfortunately, because I don’t remember where I put it, and I have very poor eyesight, I can’t find it. I don’t even remember the journalist’s name, only that he was Pontios.
Furthermore, this prophecy is also contained in the small book with a colored cover, by the Holy Monk Nektarios Katsaros, which was released in 1953 under the title “Prophecies” about the liberation of Constantinople and other places”. Which I bought in 1957 in Karyas of the Holy Land, where I went and became a Monk living in to him for nine years.
Now, we add here that: In the summer of 1994, I spent two days trying to find this booklet, which, ironically, was found in the last five books. After I returned all the books in my library. It is entitled: “The certain and infallible development of the political situation of the world” 1964.
Leo. P. Kazatzi-Kazatzidou Makronos Folklorist-Historian 32 P. Kotidou Frakon Type – Thessaloniki. He was found by the Horofilakos in the old woman’s house, not in 1939 but in 1937.
Now, we add here that: In the summer of 1994, I spent two days trying to find this booklet, which, ironically, was included in the last five books. After I returned all the books in my library. It is entitled: “The certain and infallible evolution of the political situation of the world” 1964.
Leo. P. Kazatzi-Kazatzidou Makronos Laografou-Website-riografou. Typos P. Kotidou Frakon 32 – Thessaloniki. This manuscript was found by the Horofilakos in the old woman’s house, not in 1939 but in 1937.
Furthermore, this prophecy is also contained in the small book with a colored cover, by the Holy Monk Nektarios Katsaros, which was released in 1953 with the title “Prophecies about the liberation of Constantinople and others“. Which I bought in the year 1957 in Karyas of the Holy Land, where Hekari Monachos also moved, living there for nine years.
The registered text of the Prophecy was taken from I. Koutloumousiou Monastery of Mount Athos. A monk, unknown when, found a copy in Epirus or Macedonia. This monk corrected the syntax of the words and the spelling mistakes, and divided the text according to the prophesied event, numbering it up to the number 24, as many letters of the Greek alphabet, with the date 1053 and that. This prophecy is numbered, it is also in the book of Antis/rho Con. Tsatalou edition 1963 with the title: “The expected world-historical events, under the light of the prophecies of Orthodoxy“.
The linguistic idiom and the clear wording of the meanings completely rule out its being written about a thousand years ago. This is also proven by the date of one of the previous texts at the end of 1503. Whereas at the beginning it is 1053.
This amazing Prophecy was written most obviously by Saint Cosmas of Aetolos, who was also a Prophet. The spirit, the style and the language belong to the martyr Kosmas. Because of this, copies of it were found where he acted and testified. In North Epirus, Monastery of Saint Naum Ohrid, Epirus and Western Macedonia. He wrote it in the third 25th year of the 18th century, and only a few years before his martyrdom. Headless anonymous. But one of the first copyists who found it, not knowing the author’s name, put the word “Anonymous” and according to their taste and by calculation, perhaps 1753 and another copyist wrote it 1053.
Perhaps it originally had the date 1753, and a copy may have written it in 1053. Saint Kosmas also had a school education, having studied at the then Athonia School. But have you lived for years in I. Monastery of Philotheus of Mount Athos.
Having an inclination towards prophetic speech, he studied there and became deeply acquainted with the Prophecies, above all of the Holy Fathers and of Agathangelos, who prophesy the liberation of Constantinople from the antichrist barbarian Turks of Asia, and the future glory of the modern Greek Nation.
Having the light of these prophecies filled by God with missionary zeal, he decided to go out, to preach, and to contribute to the preparation of the Nation for its liberation.
The Saint, who spoke orally to the Greek subjects, expressed his prophecies veiled, for fear of the Turks. More so the one that concerned the liberation of Greece from the antichrist Agarenes. Like: “The desired will come, when two Easters come together.“
Because the events of this Prophecy were impossible for them to be transmitted orally, he left them in writing and released them anonymously, and they remained anonymous.
He got most of the elements of this Prophecy first from Agathangelos. Like the date “about five and fifty years… but seven months…“. But this date, in all probability, starts from the 14th article: “Victory of Orthodox Peoples…“. But its end is completely unknown. Because the year of implementation of the 14th article is also unknown. With the continuation: “But in seven months (apparently ten years, i.e. 15 years after the end of the tribulation), he was not suffering, he was not exiled, returning to the arms of the glorified Mother of the Church“, he clearly tells us that: And of the consequences of the great and destructive war, and for the domination and triumph of the Orthodox Christian Faith over the heathen, and above all, the heretics and pseudo-Christs of the West will be preceded and marked by riots, persecutions and exiles.
The abolition of the Pope, the dominance of Orthodoxy, and the preaching of the Gospel to the Nations. From that of the Hieromartyr Methodius Bishop of Patara, that of Saint Andrew of Christ Salos and from the one found written on the marble slab of the tomb of Constantine the Great. Because of the prophetic gift that God gave him, enlightened on top of that through prayer, he wrote a poem and completed in chronological order the great events that happened and will happen during the 20th century, and beyond. DELIVERED TO US IN A SINGLE PROPHETIC TEXT, SUMMARIZING AND COMPLETING THE ABOVE-MENTIONED PROPHECIES OF THE HOLY FATHERS.
I am of the opinion that this amazing prophetic text, another more worthy and capable of Saint Kosmas, could not have existed to write it.
The first article and the chronological starting point of the Prophecy is the first world war, in 1914.
Until the 13th article which says: “England to Saxons only“, (that is, it will be limited, and which was realized in the decade of the 50s, they became and now belong to history. From the 14th article, the non-realized you act, until the end you prophesy.
The Prophecy of this article says: “Victory of Orthodox peoples, and general slaughter of Agarians by Orthodox“. And this prophesied event, as well as everything as we said before, is taken from the prophecies of the HolyFathers.
Among the others, two say: “And the Agarenes will gather together and make war, and the Xantho race will change them; and they will fall like ears of corn.” And “But the Xanthons genos, but with the Agents (allies of the Orthodox Christians), they will convert all Ishmael“.
The alliance of Muslim Mohammedans and Papists of the former Yugoslavia against Orthodox Serbia. The movements of antichrist Turkey with the vision of reestablishing the Ottoman empire. The vigilance of Russia for the Orthodox of the Balkans informs us that we are very close to the fulfillment of this prophecy of the 14th article.
Since it has been proven for many years that this so-called “Anonymous” prophecy was written, at least 15 decades before 1914, we say to our dear readers:
Here is a lasting miracle that surpasses the feelings of admiration and surprise. Because, the war of slaughter of the Agarenes by the Orthodox, as they say in the 15th and 16th articles, will cause “Anxiety of the world” and “General despair on earth“. What these two articles say, were completely incomprehensible before 1945 when there were no atomic bombs and all kinds of nuclear weapons. Now people mean that it does not exist in any corner of the earth life security, if they start using nuclear weapons.
So here is one more reason why I believe in this “Anonymous” prophecy.
The events of this Prophecy that make me jump and jump for joy are:
First, the massacre of the antichrist Turks. It is due to God and they will slaughter as many as millions of Armenians and Greek Christians were slaughtered over seven centuries.
Secondly, the destruction of the criminal, criminal and illegal Turkish state. That is, the crushing of the Antichrist. This is the one prophesied in the 13th chapter of Revelation, by the Martyr Hippolytus, Bishop of Rome, and by many others of the Holy Bible and the Holy Fathers.
Oh my god! how do people forget! How necessary and beneficial is the study of History! And how deadly is its ignorance!
The evils prophesied by Saint Hippolytus, all the Holy Fathers, and the Holy Scriptures that the Antichrist will commit, are few, compared to what the Antichrist Mohammedanism of the Antichrist Muhammad has committed, that is, the Antichrist to the Turks. An entire library of voluminous books is not enough to chronicle and describe the indescribable and innumerable and heinous crimes of all kinds that the Antichrists – Turks have committed.
And the seed of Ishmael comes out of the desert…. and four plagues precede him on the earth, destruction, and loss, and decay and desolation. The day before yesterday, Brothers, in 1974, in Cyprus, they gave us a faint image of the unnamed things they committed over seven centuries in Greece, M. Asia and elsewhere. After all this, many have misled many Orthodox “Greeks” and other Christians that an antichrist man will appear, he says, and will tyrannize humanity! When? Now that humanity is literally torn apart from end to end, and blood flows a river for freedom, democracy and territorial integrity.
AND THIRDLY the crushing of the second beast of the 13th chapter of the Revelation with no. 666 which is the False Papacy. The abolition of the False Pope, and the proclamation of an Orthodox Patriarch for all of Europe.
The greatest miracle of the human race, is the fact that the Greek Nation, for about eight centuries, fought, persecuted and slaughtered endlessly, by the two beasts of the Apocalypse, from the East under the Antichrist Mohammedanism, and from Dysmon under the False Christ Papism, was weakened to survival, to survive and to rise. No other nation would have been able to withstand it. He would have disappeared from the face of the earth.
God is just. Its pseudo-Christians and non-Christians The French, English, Germans and Italians of the West, together with the godless communist Russians, helped the antichrist Turks and brought about the destruction of Asia Minor. The uprooting of that over (30) centuries of Hellenism.
The sadistic massacre of one million Greeks. They paid for this enormous crime many times over with the second world war. He crushed them, finished them off. He leveled them, desolated them and in many ways they killed about 50 million.
Now, outside of Russia, the Pseudo-Christian Papists and anti-Christian Mohammedans, aided by the unchristian Westerners, are following the same tactics, fighting against Orthodox Serbia.
They take the side and support a Grigoroff, unknown worldwide until 1991, and his new state of two million people, with a mosaic of ethnicities and religions. But they are turning towards Greece of ten million; a nation of three thousand years, light-giver of the world, which has its share of justice, and injustice.
But again it is prophesied that God will pay them with the same coin. “And they gathered at Heptalofum, says Saint Methodius, and they will form a war, which has never happened before. And the blood from the slaughter moves like a river, and the sea is clouded from the blood, to the depths of the abyss. Then there will be a cry and a dry lament”.
BRIEF INTERPRETATION OF THE WHOLE PROPHECY
The evidence that we previously cited makes it absolutely certain that this prophecy was not written in the 11th but in the 18th century, under Saint Kosmas of Aetolos.
However, we also quote in an additional element. The Bishop of Kalam of Pal. Mr. Gregory’s Diary, published in 1974 in a book with the title: “Uses and Prophecies for the Future of the World”.
In the preface he writes that this book is from the 18th century. But in this book, the Anonymous Prophecy we are talking about is not included. Also, a lot the remarkable thing is that this book contains an interpretation of the 13th chapter of Revelation, by an old teacher named Pantazis of Larissa.
In his interpretation, this teacher mentions that the first beast from the sea is the Antichrist Mohammedanism. And the second one from the earth with the number (666) is the Pseudo-Christ Papacy.
The first event prophesied by this prophecy of Anonymous is the First World War in 1914. Subsequently, and until today in the space of 81 years, the first (13) of the (24) articles of the prophecy were fulfilled. The defeat of Germany in the First World War. The destruction of Orthodox Russia, due to the domination of godless communism and the destruction of the power of Austria-Hungary. The defeat of the Agarian Turks from 1912 to 1922 by the Greeks.
The strengthening of the Turks by the Pseudo-Christian Nations of the West, and the defeat of the Greeks by the Turks in 1922 in M. Asia. The massacre of the Orthodox Greeks who followed in M. Asia, and their great misery.
Subsequently, he foretells the invasion of the Italians. Adriatic Sea to Albania, which was the prelude to the Second and more destructive World War. The beginning of the Second World War. The union of the Orthodox Nations of Europe after Germany from the German occupation. The humiliating defeat of the French by the Germans in 1940.
For a “moment”, or brief period of history, the Turkish state will appear great. This happened from 1940, which remained intact from the destruction of the Second World War, with its development until today. The daughter of Lucifer, the Prime Minister of Turkey, Tanso Ciller, brags almost every day, that Turkey is a big and powerful state, and in (48) hours, it can crush Greece.
What a great surprise the realization of this prophecy can cause to the scholar. But “for a while”, means the short period of time that the Turkish state will survive, compared to the previous long periods of time from the conquest of Kon/leo, its conquests and its preservation in life. A thousand years in
Eyes of God, like one day. And one day is like a thousand years. But according to “the eternal moment of Your Lord”, it will not be completed for a century since 1922, the establishment of the Kemal state, and it will be crushed and lost definitively and irrevocably. Continuation of surprises. India would revolt and separate from England. This happened in 1948. But the restriction of England to the islands of “Saxons only” happened in the 1950’s and 1960’s. All that was prophesied up to this point became history.
From the above event until today, (35) years have passed. Therefore, the beginning of the fulfillment of the 14th article of the prophecy is very close, and then until its end. So it says “Victory of the Orthodox Peoples and general slaughter of the Agarines by the Orthodox”. In order for this to happen, Turkey will carry out its daily threats against Greece, and will mobilize the 4th Aegean army, which it does not have “for beauty” against us. He only lurks and guards, as through Cyprus, to invade from the Evros into Thrace, the islands of the Aegean, and the rest of Cyprus. They will cause enormous destruction in Greece. This will enrage the Russians and the other Orthodox Nations and they will literally crush the antichrist and barbaric Turkism. “Anxiety of the world.” This event will cause concern throughout the world. As the situation worsens, there will be “general despair over the whole earth”.
Peaceful attempts at reconciliation will not be fruitful and the first battle will take place in Constantinople between Russians and their allies, and six NATO states, the Pseudochrist in the West, with three days of slaughter between the belligerents. In this battle, the Russians will defeat the long-haired and bearded men of the Pseudo-Christ West. They will reorganize their forces and ally with the pseudo-Christ “nations of the West” and invade Kon/lin. The second battle will take place in this one, the fearsomeness, ferocity and bloodiness of which the other Fathers of the Church predict. Here he only repeats that there will be another three days of slaughter. God, seeing the injustice and futility of the wild slaughter of each other in a foreign city, will stop the battle through this intervention (by Angelus) and will deliver Pauline to the Greeks to whom she belongs.
After this miracle, and many debates and spiritual struggles, the Latin Pseudo-Christs and the nations of the West will submit to the infallible Orthodox faith. The Orthodox faith will triumph and prevail in East and West. It will cause fear and terror to the barbaric heathens, to the anti-Christ Mohammedans and to the heretics of the West.
The Pope will not repent and will not submit to Orthodoxy. Because he is a copy of Josephus. As he will never repent, so will the Pope. But they will stop him and abolish him. And in the 8th or Pan-Orthodox Synod, according to the prophecy of Saint Neilos of Myroblitos, they will agree that Old Rome will become the seat of one Patriarch for all of Europe.
After (55) years from the beginning of the fulfillment of the 14th article of this prophecy, the sad, terrible, bloodiest war events, the persecutions, the murders, the exiles, the imprisonments, and the various disturbances and oppositions will end. through the acceptance of Orthodoxy, and the new order of things in the West.
Fifteen years after the age of 55, i.e. in the seventh decade from the beginning of the implementation of the 14th article, the order will be completely restored. Orthodoxy will prevail and be consolidated, and there will be no exiles and sufferers, but they will return later with joy to the glory of the triumphant for the victory of the Orthodox Church. But God himself (Christ) confirms it, through his great Saint who wrote the prophecy: “So it is, and so let it be and will be. Amen Amen Amen. I am the Alpha and the Mega, the first and the last; the Beginning and the End.
Finally, it will become a flock and a Shepherd from the True Orthodox Christian Faith.
Let this happen, and it will happen. Amen Amen Amen, (I am the one who wrote, I am the Servant of Jesus Christ, the True God).
